Endings and New Beginnings

Hello! How are you? It’s been a very long time, I know. I apologize. I’d love to know how you are. I’d love to hear from you. All is well with me, and I hope it is with you. These years have abounded in opportunities and challenges…. and who knows what 2022 will bring?! What I […]
How to Cultivate Embodied Consciousness

Hello, Recently Robyn Stratton Berkessal of The Positivity Strategist invited me to be her guest on her current Podcast series: Embodiment. What is embodied consciousness? Why is it critical to develop a conscious relationship with the body at all times, especially in times of uncertainty and change? I invite you to listen to this short clip […]
It All Starts With M’We: the I that is Me and the I that is We.

Our world today is fraught with crises. Crises are opportunities we don’t want to miss. The other day, I received a free short audio clip from Sounds True by Adyashanti, a spiritual teacher, on a game-changing way to deal with pain and difference. The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice.
meet them at the door laughing and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes.
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
– Rumi
“Our Fathers”

This year I was moved to write a poem to My Father. Read my poem here. Happy Father’s Day, Lynda My Father died tomorrow, twenty five years ago. What a big soul, scared baby and complicated father. With the voice of a clear bell he longed to sing for others. Yet he had no voice […]
On Gratitude and Thanksgiving

Everyday is a day to be grateful, no matter what is happening. Being grateful does not preclude having anxious, sad, or angry thoughts and feelings. It means that we can hold whatever reactions arise from a challenging situation and at the same time be grateful for the situation and the opportunities and gifts it brings. […]

Robyn and I discuss what is possible for the future. It is particularly relevant in these turbulent times. Many people have said that future generations will look […]
Hello, Dear Reader

It’s been a long time. I’ve not written to you for almost one year to the day, with one exception being the post I wrote entitled “On Listening,” written right around the time of the presidential election. I was so outraged with people going to extremes, not honoring differences, not listening with respect, that I […]
On Being Interviewed
A brief comment on what to remember when being interviewed for an article The other day, I was interviewed for an article. Given what happened, going forward I will remember to require editorial rights for the article. To me, that means I can review the article and see if my message was correctly conveyed or […]
On Listening

One Saturday evening, months before the election, I got into a cab in New York City and almost immediately, the driver asked me—straight out— “who are you voting for?” I told him. Then I asked him, “who are you voting for?” And thus, we began. I was voting for Hillary Clinton and he was voting […]
